DANGAL, The most awaited movie of the year is set to release on December 23,2016. “DANGAL” as the title suggest is a story dealing with the game of wrestling.
CENTRAL IDEA OF THE STORY
It is an inspirational biographical story, that breaks the stereotypical cultural barriers that debar the entrance of female into the so-called ‘manly sports’.
RUNNING DOWN TO STORY
The movie by Aamir Khan is set in Haryana atmosphere. Where Aamir Khan plays the role of father and also wrestler as Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trains his daughter Geeta Phogat (Sanya Malhotra) and Babita Kumari (Fatima Sana Shaikh) the art of wrestling.
Formally, Mahavir Singh too holds a stereotypical opinion and feels dejected on a birth of a girl child. The reason being limited to the end of his dreams to serve his nation in procuring a gold medal in Olympics. But, the girls don’t let the case to remain the same for long. His daughters inherited the same talent from their father. Which Mahavir Singh later discovers when the girls came back home after a fight with their fellow mate.
After the talent is brought into the light, Mahavir Singh starts training then till they become professional wrestlers, all ready to serve the nation. The movie delineates the whole process of training and struggle till the fruit of hard work comes in form of success in Olympics.
The story is not set in a specific sphere of time but shows the complete progress of the characters.
OUTLINING THE FILM
The tint of feminism and women strength is shown with a new story line. The trailer although being simple, prominently reflects the complete story line. Even though it deals with the same sport as in recent movie Sultan of Salman Khan, it is at variance in dealing with the central idea. Where in Sultan, it is a love story in combination with wrestling and in Dangal it is the new status of female injunction with the game is portrayed.
The story is the biographical account of Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, who were first female wrestlers to win the 2010 common wealth game with gold and silver medal.
After TaareZamin Par, Ghajini, 3 Idiots and PK, it is another content based movie dealing completely with a new perspective. The expectations of an audience have always been surpassed by Aamir Khan and this time the too movie shows the glimpse of breaking the former records and creating the new barometer for Indian cinema. As commented by Karan Johar, after the first screening of the movie, “Haven’t seen a better film in a decade.”
