Thousands of football lovers witnessed a high voltage match between NorthEast United FC and Delhi Dynamos in Indian Super League, which ended at 1-1 draw here at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi on Saturday.

Delhi Dynamos’s Kean Lewis put his team ahead in the 38th minute but Uruguayan striker Emiliano Alfaro levelled the lead in the 51st minute in the breathtaking match. However, NorthEast United FC failed to win the match but kept their dominance on the pointer table with 10 points while Delhi has jumped to the third spot in the table.

Initially, at the start of the match, both teams were playing with caution and trying to build the tempo. Everyone anticipated that NorthEast will get the breakthrough first as the coordination between the players were really good and the trio of Alfaro, Nicolas Velez and Katsumi Yusa were giving tough times to the host team.

NorthEast United FC and Delhi Dynamos ends at 1-1 drawSurprisingly, Delhi took the lead in 38th minute when Kean Lewis placed ball straight in a goalpost to which the goalkeeper Subrata Paul completely failed to collect. The goal moment came just after when Yusa was shown yellow card by the referee for his wrong dive. Yusa had also fired the low shot in 25th minute towards the goalpost but the shot went wide missing the goalpost.

But unfortunately, at very next moment Alfaro failed to punish Delhi after a defensive blunder committed by Ruben Gonzalez Rocha. Players of Delhi certainly took the advantage of repeated mistakes of NorthEast team and fired the first goal of the match.

Similar kind of attacking game was seen in the second half of the match too, from both the sides and it was really becoming difficult to differentiate between both the teams. The fans of Delhi received a shocker when the NorthEast levelled the lead in the 51st minute after Real Madrid defender Rocha committed a blunder in the match. Although, Alfaro had failed to punish Delhi earlier in the match but this time he did not commit any mistake and holed ball directly in the goalpost which went through between the legs of the defender.

After levelling the lead, the confidence of the players of NorthEast shot at the seventh sky, and they mounted slew of attacks. Nazary had targeted at the Delhi’s goal in the 57th minute but failed in his attempt.

Head coach of Delhi, Gianluca Zambrotta brought former France and Chelsea player, Florent Malouda in the 66th minute of the match but this time he failed to do any goal for his team. The sensation continued till the last minute, as Marcelo and Gadze attacked at the goalpost in 80th and 82nd minute respectively but the goalkeeper Keeper Paul skillfully saved the goal.
