Making a bike trip to Sikkim was an absolute and unplanned thing. My friends and I were thinking of making a trip, and everyone has given different types of opinions to make the trip to Sikkim. However, after learning each one of my friend’s opinions, I became totally frustrated. Finally, I took the decision to make that trip and explore the mountains to enjoy the adventure and thrill of Mountain roads.
We all are busy in our professional life, and to take a few days of break from work, we have taken the decision to make a short trip and to enjoy it to the full list. However, the bike trip to Sikkim was totally a game changer for all of us. We have planned for the trip to Sikkim on March 1st, 2023. We were very clear to start our journey at midnight on March 1st at 2 a.m.

The nervousness and excitement in all of us, including me, delayed the schedule for a few hours. We were not packed with all of the things for the trip to Sikkim. Continuous excitement was going on inside our minds, which finally brought the result in the delay in our plan.
snow road with beautiful view But ultimately, we packed all of our essential things for the trip to Sikkim by bike. We finally started our journey at 4:00 a.m. on March 1st.

Things We Have Taken With Us Before Starting Our Journey To Kolkata To Sikkim
While riding on the bike, it is always essential to carry all of the important things regarding the bike and other safety elements. While we make our journey to Sikkim, we have also taken all of the necessary documents and things. Things we have enlisted and carried with us are in the below paragraph.
While going to the mountain roads and wanting to enjoy the dangerous and adventurous moments, it is important to keep some important things. Making a safe journey on the mountain roads will help us. Things we included while starting our journey we have taken good quality and two pairs of good hand gloves, Trekking shoes, a raincoat, a head torch, a working pool, a Water bottle, a medical kit, Snacks, bags, rope, and Head gear. On the other side, we have also taken good quality and best dresses for Mountain Road riding and comfortable winter dresses. Even footwear and feet protection is also very necessary thing that we have taken with us.
How We Reached Sikkim By Bike
We have taken the decision to reach Sikkim by bike through 34 NH, but due to the construction, we were unable to take the road. However, instead of 34 NH, we have considered The Belgharia Road and GaurangoSetu.
Day 1
On the first day of our journey, we completed 700 km from Kolkata to Siliguri by bike. However, we enjoyed the first 100 KM very smoothly and with high enthusiasm. But after completing the 100 KM, the actual struggle came for all of us. After riding on the road continuously for 100 KM, we all became tired, and our hands became totally numb. The fingers were not moving well, and we realized the actual complication of riding on the bike very strongly.

However, after taking a few minute’s breaks, we have taken our breakfast in the roadside Dhaba of Krishnanagar. After completing breakfast, we took our second break-in Malda and enjoyed lunch.
After taking a short break, we again started our journey from Malda and completed the whole 700 km from Kolkata to Siliguri. We reached Siliguri near 10 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. at night.
Day 2
Ahaldara 360 with kanchenjunga view
On the second day of our journey, we started to cover the distance from Siliguri to Ahaldara. Ahaldara is one of the best hilltops from where the audience can watch the total view at a 360-degree angle. We also experienced the 360-degree angle of the whole city and enjoyed both the sunrise and the snow-covered peaks of Kanchanjanga. It was refreshment for all of us to enjoy such a beautiful and wonderful side of nature. The hilltop is just 5 km away from Latpanchar.
mnlnjm,On our journey from Siliguri to Ahaldara, we experienced such a dangerous Mountain Road it was totally impossible for me to ride the bike smoothly. It became totally impossible to tackle the bike to the right position. However, I have managed to cross the road while experiencing very dangerous and adventures feeling inside me.
Even we have also experienced NamthingPokhri Lake as a side view while going to the Ahaldara. It was such a wonderful feeling to witness such an amazing creation of nature, and while passing through the NamthingPokhri Lake, we took a lot of beautiful pictures and videos.
Day 3
Ahaldara to Rangoli On the third day of our journey, we enjoy the right between Ahaldara to Rangoli. On this journey, we have collected a lot of memories with us while enjoying the ride on the road by bike. However, to reach Rangoli, we need to collect the passes. Per head, we have to pay 800 rupees to collect the passes. For two people I have given 1600 rupees. While making our journey towards Rangoli, we saw the wonderful side of river Tista and captured many beautiful moments as well. It was a very joyful moment for every one of us, and we enjoyed the sound of the Waves very clearly, which increased our love for nature.
River Teesta View Here on the third day of our journey, we stayed one day in a hotel. Besides that, we have also faced dangerous mountain roads while going to the Rangoli from Ahaldara. While riding on the bike through the dangerous roads, we all felt nervous and fearful. We never experienced such dangerous mountain roads, in our lives earlier. It was the first time for all of us that we had exploded on such a dangerous Mountain Road to complete our journey.
mountain view When we were going to the Rangoli, we also witnessed the crowd on the road for a religious purpose campaign. The total area and the whole road were blocked for a few minutes, and we wear unable to pass the road. However, we had to wait for a few moments, and after passing the crowd, we removed to our next destination.

Not only that, we have also taken a shortcut road to reach our destination. And while taking the shortcut to reach the destination, the first gear of the bike was not working very well. However, soon after a few moments, the gear started working pretty well, and we again started our riding.

Day 4
On the next day and on our last day, we started our journey from Rangoli to Nathang Valley. It was a total zigzag route, and we went for the 13200 feet. Besides that, while passing Zuluk, we experienced one of the most memorable moments of our life on our bike ride.
Rangoli is a street gathering and a market for the entire neighborhood. Every day, thousands of vendors come here. Even the tourists also come here to enjoy the view and to spend some lovely times.
It was 10100 feet Height from the land. However, certainly, the weather has changed, and it was quite uncomfortable for us to ride in that situation comfortably.
Nathang Valley View It is an old mountain pass that connected India and China as a border. During the ancient time, it was used for trade. The overall View of the border is amazing to behold.
Suddenly we experienced a total unbearable discomfort while wearing the clothes. We were unable to see our roads while riding on the bike. Even we were unable to see people who were just 2 meters away from us. Not only that, even the short distance was not visible in front as clearly.
However, while going to the Nathan Valley, our body was shaking totally, and we decided to take a break. After finding a shop, we stopped our journey. After watching our conditions, the shopkeeper offered us a heater, and we took the warmness to free from the shaking condition.
Mountain road view Suddenly again, we saw a totally changing mood of the weather, and at that moment, the rain was going on outside. The total area and the road were also covered with snow. Even our bike was also covered by 5 to 6 inches of snow on the seat. In this situation, there were no shelter homes available where we could take a rest. While going to the roads, the bike was almost falling, and I was unable to grip the break properly.
At the next moment, I also observed that the first gear of my bike was not working properly again. However, two people came immediately and helped us to come out of the situation. Their behavior and their guidance were so down that they even took us to their house.
After reaching their homes, we enjoyed delicious food and lovely weather when the rain was going on outside. Even they also offered us evening snacks such as noodles which were also very yummy. While talking with them, they also shared their experience while living in such a place. Not only that, but they have also shared all of the hard struggles of their daily day-to-day life and the total distance from Nathan Valley to Gangtok.

However, we have taken the decision to spend the night with them and enjoyed all of the beautiful moments while watching the snowfall and rain outside. It was a very thrilling and exciting feeling for all of us to be in that situation. We also experienced a low oxygen level which made it totally discomfort to take rest and sleep for the whole night. The blood circulation level was not working properly, and the shivering and shaking condition was going on at the same time.
The next day, when we started our journey, we saw a statue of monastery. And we also visited the old Baba Mandir. After staying and seeking blessings, we went to the near location where we ate Prasad. Typically saying, the people of AirForce were too kind to us, and they offered the Prasad of Lord Buddha.
Besides that, we have also seen the whole work of the defense people how they clean the whole areas so quickly and perfectly.While watching their work, confusion was going on in our minds about whether to go to the Nathula pass or not!
Nathula pass view point Nathula is one of the most beautiful roads in the world and it is described as a mountain pass. From the road, we also observed the peak of the Himalayan. On the other side, it is a connecting part of Sikkim and China as a border. This is also one of the third busiest trading roads, and for the beautiful view and Beautiful environment, we have decided to enjoy the whole surroundings of Nathula Pass.
The temperature also remained very low most of the time. It is situated on the old Silk Road. Not only that, it was sealed for four decades continuously. The Nathula Pass also played a very vital role as a border between India and China. It was again reopened in 2006 for trading.

As it was 14000 feet away from the land, it was quite dangerous for us to go there. But as we have come so far, we did not change our decision and made up our minds to go to the Nathula pass to enjoy the whole view.
On the other side, to reach our destination young dong, we have collected passes and need to provide Rs 1000 for two people. Still, the snowfall and rain were going on, and again, we started our journey. When we reached our final destination, we were completely exhausted with zero level of energy. Our body was not supportive, but the excitement of reaching our final destination was so high that we again cheered up quickly.
Changu Lake View The excitement level was so high that we took thousands of pictures and captured the beautiful size of nature and took a lot of videos as well. In the same day, again, we started our journey towards Changu Lake. While passing through Changu Lake, we experienced the most exciting and beautiful sides of the lake. The outstanding view of the lake has taken all of our discomfort and struggle. We lived the best moments of our life for a few moments Beside Changu Lake.
Changu Lake beautiful view Even we have also forgotten all our pains and other hard moments while reaching our destination. It was a feeling for a lifetime memory, and we enjoyed everything single second. On the same day, we also reached Gangtok and spent some time there. Even on the same day, we also completed our journey, and we reached Siliguri. From Siliguri; we came to Kolkata while enjoying all the zigzag roads and wonderful views.
Final words
The whole journey from Kolkata to Sikkim and from Sikkim to Kolkata was an unforgettable, enjoyable, exciting, adventurous, and wonderful feeling for all of us. We never thought we had to go through all of these experiences, but ultimately, all our struggles became worthier while enjoying the wonderful views of Changu Lake and other side scenes.
