We face intolerance every day in our life such as the situation when our views are not matched with our parent’s views, with our teacher’s views and a lot more. This is exactly what the intolerance means. If we speak as according to the country’s language than the intolerance is the situation in which the new generation is unwilling to accept the traditional beliefs and views. find more information about social views here.

But is it as simple as we are talking?? No friends, this is not as simple. Intolerance is the big issue in the country like India where the traditional beliefs and views have their own value and position. And of course, this intolerance is raised by the media as well. It cannot be denied that the media is the inescapable part of the modern life. It not only informs but also influences our perception. Apart from this, the media is also responsible for changing our views towards any situation. As media is the part of our society, therefore, it basically reflects the strength and weakness of the society.

The situation of intolerance is originated from our past. In the situations where conditions are politically charged and economically depressed, the groups and individuals may find hard to tolerate those views which are different from them. Intolerance doesn’t come alone. It comes with aggression, violence, discriminations, repression, and dehumanization. It will drive groups apart and creates the sense of permanent separation between them.

As media is the basic and important part of our society, therefore, it has the ability to change one’s opinion and views. Individual attitude is greatly influenced by the images of other groups in the media and press. The issue of intolerance is not the big one but it is totally influenced by media. Over the years, the India and our society have undergone many changes, some values are thrown overboard and some new values are adopted while some remain unchanged. In the recent times, there is increasing the tendency of analyzing, writing articles, and commenting adversely on topics related to old age traditions, faith and belief systems. Actually, this act creates intolerance among the crowd. Topics and comments related to the traditional beliefs raise the feeling of anger and intolerance in people.

This topic of intolerance is not as big as it is made by media. This fact cannot be denied that media has too much influence on the mind of people. Usually, we blindly believe on what media says about anything. Actually, the media coverage has made this topic as the intense one. The basic reason of raising intolerance is that media is sensationalizing the minor events and projecting the same in the different or you can say in the wrong way. The way media presents any minor topic influences the public’s perception towards the same. Not always, but sometimes media presents wrong information which also becomes the foremost reason of rising intolerance in the Indian society.

It is known that the people in India are totally double – standard. Despite knowing the truth, they easily believe on the rumours. Also, it the big mistake of media that it stretches the issue so much which then turns into controversy and creates intolerance among the crowd. It cannot be denied that the media plays the vital role in demolishing the values of tolerance. It is the powerful tool which can shape the future of the nation in the proper way or deform the same. It is up to the media that whether it wants to raise this issue or just let it go for the sake of nation’s future.

It is strictly our duty not to raise and stretch the issue of intolerance. We should respect the beliefs and views of everyone in the society. It is important to deal with the series of moral and ethical values that encourage recognition of the other, embrace them in one human crucible and honour every religion and culture. We must seek to establish the values of co – existence and harmony so as to reach the ideal formula that our society has known for decades. Media should understand its responsibility and avoid stretching the issue of intolerance. Just present the right news and avoid the irrelevant comments on the sensitive topics. The media should make the use of positive images to promote cultural sensitivity and understanding.

Not only media but also educational system can do a lot to remove or decrease the problem of intolerance. For example, the schools should create the tolerant environment in which the students should respect all the cultures of our society. More the individuals are exposed to positive messages, less they will find fault in other’s beliefs and views.
