Coming to the Line-up of the match both teams started with their defensive attitude as Juventus and Porto followed 4-4-2 strategy. With both teams sticking to their defence there were hardly any close calls near the goal post. Juventus right from the start of the match had the ball possession and an overall ball possession of 63% this gave them much opportunity to score but due to strong defence much of their shots were off side and only two shots were on target out of 14 shots they took. The match was heading towards a 0-0 state at the half time but, and then it was the 40’of the match when Porto defender Maxi Pereira was sent- off the match for a deliberate handball.
Maxi indiscretion allowed Juventus a Penalty shot and Paulo Dybala did no mistake to put one right into the goal post. At the end of Half-time, the Score was 1-0 in favour of Juventus.
From the start of second half, Porto looked weak in defence as their Defender Maxi was sent-off. All the stores had the gilt-edged opportunity to reduce the deficit seconds later, shaking off Dani Alves and going one-on-one with Buffon but then he opened his body and side-footed the shot across the face of the goal wide of the post, thus mixing a chance. Porto tried everything even substituted Diogo and almost had a chance to salvage some pride when it went through on closing minutes of the match. At the end of full time, it was Juventus the undoubted winners at their home ground. With this win, Juventus went on to keep their sixth clean sheet in eight Champions League matches they have played.
