Her mother kept crying and again a pure soul, a 3 days old girl child was offered to Yama, the lord of death. This was not the first time or second or third, this gender discrimination exists since a long time.
And the worst part about it is that it’s not confined to people who belong to lower economic class or middle, its roots are spread at every economic level. Be it educated or uneducated, working professional or farmer, everyone wants a boy child.
This problem is like an acute disease, how hard you try to get rid of it but you cannot and the reason of this issue is an acute problem is men dominating society. Mothers try to save her child as she is an integral part of her but even she is threatened with death which makes her act like she is fine with the killing of the child. Activist estimate that eight million female fetuses may have been aborted in the past decade that’s approximately more than the total population of Israel, Tajikistan, Denmark and 135 more countries. Whereas Census 2011 shows a decline in sex ratios, it recorded as 914 females per 1000 males dropping from 927 females per 1000 males in 2001, lowest since India’s independence.
On one hand, we praise technology as we are launching satellites, using it for making our business expand and even for reading this content and on the other hand we use the same technology to for ultrasound to find if it’s a boy or girl so that the girl child can be aborted. And we always say technology is a big saviour but condition like this makes me question the statement and hope it does to you also.
When we talk about literacy its increasing day by day but when we talk about the literacy of women in India it still lags behind. Where the literacy rate of males is around 82.14% in comparison to 65.4% of ladies. And the main reason behind this is parents perceptions which make them think that spending money on a female child is useless as she is supposed to get married and sit at home and work 24*7 without asking for rest and help. On one hand, we have great women’s like Kiran Bedi, Saina Nehwal, Dipa Karmakar, Avani Chaturvedi, Bhawana Kanth and Mohan Singh are raising pride of India on world level whereas 2,000 girls are killed every day in India. People worship goddesses and on the other side they kill female but they forget that they are in this world just because of women.
Discrimination has gained control in every sector be it our film industry, working sectors or be it parental property. There are laws which support equal rights to women but I guess they are not used well because if a woman raises her voice, she is boycotted by the society. Gender discrimination has lead to declination in growth and development. It is estimated that growth in India would increase by 1.09% if female participation is increased.
Women are someone who gives birth to you and bears every pain to keep her parents, husband, children and family to keep happy by killing her all dreams and passions. Do love them and support them as who knows what potential they have.
